Andrew Van Ginkel is the definition of a tough SOB.
The Miami Dolphins linebacker was part of a defensive crew that was masterful in their shutout of the New York Jets on Sunday to help the team move to 10-4 on the season.
Early in that contest, Ginkel suffered a broken nose, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The NFL insider stated that the injury happened in the first quarter, and Van Ginkel played the rest of the game with the injury.
True definition of a warrior.

“I didn’t even know it was broken until this morning when they did the CT scan on it,” Van Ginkel said Monday afternoon. “I was pass rushing and I took a fist to the face. It kind of went through my facemask and I felt it instantly. Blood started gushing everywhere.
“I didn’t think anything of it. I just thought I had a bloody nose. I got back to the sideline and blood is just pouring out of both nostrils. It took a few minutes for it to settle down.”
Miami’s pass rush had five sacks in the first half alone.
Van Ginkel played the fourth-most of any Dolphins’ defender, missing just seven of 58 defensive snaps.
The Miami Dolphins put themselves on the cusp of a second consecutive playoff berth and moved closer to their first AFC East title in 15 years with their 30-0 shutout of the New York Jets.
After Sunday, the Dolphins now need only one more victory to clinch a playoff spot and that will give them their first back-to-back postseason appearances since they went five straight times from 1997-2001.
NNot to mention, they did all of this without Tyreek Hill who is out with an injury.
