The banged-up Miami Dolphins may be shorthanded once again when they host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.
Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, superstar running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle), cornerback Xavien Howard (foot) and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (ankle) did not participate in Thursday’s practice. Tyreek Hill, dealing with an ankle injury, also didn’t participate on Thursday because of a personal matter.
On Wednesday, a giant fire started at Hill’s home in Southwest Ranches. Nobody was injured in the fire, and an investigation later showed that it was an accidental fire that started when a child inside the home played with a cigarette lighter.
The Dolphins didn’t have Waddle or Mostert in Sunday’s pivotal Week 17 road game against the Baltimore Ravens. Miami fell 56-19, and the victory allowed the Ravens to clinch the AFC’s top seed.
The loss in Baltimore also prevented the Dolphins from locking up their first AFC East division crown since 2008. The winner of Sunday’s game against Buffalo will take the division crown and the conference’s No. 2 seed.
If Miami loses, they’ll fall to the No. 6 seed and visit the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card Round. If the Bills lose to Miami, they would clinch a playoff spot with a) a Pittsburgh Steelers loss or tie to the Baltimore Ravens b) a tie between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans and c) a Jacksonville Jaguars loss or tie to the Tennessee Titans.
