It’s been a tough few weeks for Xavien Howard, and it appears as though things have just gotten a lot worse for the Miami Dolphins cornerback.
According to Andy Slater, Howard has been hit with a lawsuit for assault and battery by the mother of his children. Howard’s attorney has provided additional details, stating that the woman demanded $12-million from Howard before filing the lawsuit. They also claim that the allegations are the result of two incidents from 2020—both of which have already been investigated.
Howard’s attorney has also released an official statement regarding the matter. In it, they describe the allegations as “serious but baseless.”
Howard and the Dolphins have hit a bit of a rut lately, as they have now lost three-in-a-row after dropping Saturday night’s contest to the Buffalo Bills by a score of 32-29.
The loss drops Miami to 8-6 on the season, leaving them clinging to the final wild card spot in a very competitive AFC. It’s quite the drop-off for a team that at one point looked poised to seriously challenge for the AFC East title and perhaps even the top spot in the entire conference.

As it stands, the Dolphins will need to win some big games down the stretch against the Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots and New York Jets if they want to book their spot in the playoffs. It won’t be easy, as the latter two games could very well dictate who gets in and who doesn’t.
Simply put, Miami has their work cut out for them down the stretch. And the added distraction of Howard’s looming lawsuit certainly won’t help their cause.
