The Baltimore Ravens are just one specific draft pick away from sending NFL ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. into retirement…according to Kiper Jr. himself.
The ESPN panel was discussing Todd McShay’s latest NFL mock draft. McShay has the Ravens taking prized Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 22 selection, but Kiper Jr. wasn’t at all buying it.
During the segment, Kiper Jr. stated to McShay “If you’re right on this one, I will retire. I can guarantee you that.”
Fans should definitely take what Kiper Jr. said there with a grain of salt. After all, he promised he’d retire if Jimmy Clausen didn’t go on to have a successful career as a quarterback in the NFL. That was in 2018, and he’s still working.
Robinson is one of the top-ranked prospects entering the 2024 NFL Draft. Of course, it’s hard to project where he’ll go, since teams rarely take running backs in the first round these days.
Would the Ravens take Robinson at No. 22 overall if he’s still on the board? It could very well end up depending on what they do with star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who needs a new contract following the expiration of his rookie deal.

But Robinson would certainly be an intriguing fit in that rush-first offense, especially if the Ravens opted to retain Jackson.
