Baltimore Ravens’ star quarterback Lamar Jackson took over headlines on Monday when he announced via social media that he requested a trade from the organization on Mar. 2.
And according to one of the world’s most beloved rappers, Jackson has had his eye on one of Baltimore’s biggest rival teams in the New England Patriots.
Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that rapper Meek Mill texted him last week to inform him that the 26-year-old QB wanted to join the Patriots. Kraft told Mill that head coach Bill Belichick would make that call there.
The Patriots have a hopeful franchise quarterback in Mac Jones, who led the team to the postseason in his rookie year. There is no indicator that Belichick and company are already looking to move on from the Alabama product after a disappointing sophomore year.
Jackson was assigned the franchise tag earlier this month, thus preventing him from entering the free agent market. However, a team could sign the 2019 league MVP to an offer sheet. Baltimore would have five days to match, and if they don’t, the AFC North club will acquire two first-round picks in compensation.

But the idea of Jackson joining the NFL’s model organization of the 21st century is certainly a fun one. Jackson, who owns a 2-1 career record against the Patriots, would fit in well on a team that puts a strong emphasis on running the football.
It’s not too often where two MVP-winning quarterbacks switch teams in the same offseason. Aaron Rodgers will eventually become a New York Jet, but it’s anybody’s guess where Jackson will land.
