Mecole Hardman could be headed back to a very familiar place.
The NY Jets promised Mecole Hardman a larger role when they signed him away from the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. That never happened. Hardman signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Jets this offseason, and the belief at the time was that he would be the team’s new WR3.
Through four weeks, Hardman has played just 22 snaps and been targeted once through the first four games of the Jets’ season.
Now, New York is exploring options for Hardman, according to ESPN, including a trade to a new team ahead of the Oct. 31 in-season deadline.
An anonymous executive is now stating that the Chiefs are a team to watch out for for a trae of Hardman.
Hardman is playing just 10 percent of the Jets’ offensive snaps compared to the 53 percent of snaps he played with the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs last season.

Hardman would’ve likely had a much better role had Aaron Rodgers not gotten injured, but things changed with his Achilles injury and now the team has Zach Wilson starting for the team.
Hardman, who’s due just $2.3 million through 2023, topped 500 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons with Kansas City. A return back home may be a blessing in disguise.
