A Dallas Cowboys rookie has admitted that he is all about violence and doesn’t even like football.
Mazi Smith, a first-year nose tackle, is already drawing comparisons to Ndamukong Suh. But he’s not about all the hype or talking and simply wants to hit people.
“I don’t do no talking,” Smith said in an interview with Mike Leslie of WFAA. “Nah, I’m trying to hit you. I don’t got nothing to say. I don’t even like football. I like hitting people.”
Sounds like just the attitude the Cowboys were after when they decided to use their 26th overall pick on the 6ft 3in, 323lb Smith.
The Cowboys have had some difficulty dealing with the interior run for some time now as they did not have that presence in the middle. In Smith, they should have a player who could help absorb double teams against the run and allow the linebackers behind him to get to the football.
It’s what he did for Michigan and it’s what Dallas will be hoping he can bring to the pros. They’re also understood to view him as a pass rusher. So he’ll definitely be one to watch next season.

Smith, though, has had brushes with the law. Last October, he was stopped for speeding in Ann Arbor, Michigan and a search produced a pistol, which led to charges of carrying a concealed weapon. The count was dismissed as he would plead guilty to a lesser charge of carrying a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
