Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady said this week he’ll be “playing a very passive role” in his part-ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders, and that has people thinking he just might be angling toward a return to football.
Brady has reiterated multiple times that he will stay retired, but Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby thinks he will be playing football this year, and likely for his team.
“Tom Brady’s a competitor. The greatest of all time,” Raiders star Maxx Crosby said in an appearance on Buffalo Bills star Von Miller’s podcast.
“At the absolute worst, if everything doesn’t go the way it’s supposed to and we need him, I would not be surprised if Tom Brady shows up in a Raiders jersey.”
Earlier this year, Troy Aikman told TMZ Sports that he could see a situation that includes Brady being the signal-caller for the team he’s going to be a part owner of. He pointed to his relationship with Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels and his body of work could play a factor in returning to the game of football.
It should be noted Brady’s part-ownership of the Raiders doesn’t eliminate his chances of coming back to the NFL.
If Brady does not come back, the Raiders will be solely dependent on Jimmy Garoppolo, who was a backup to Brady for years in New England before he got traded to the San Francisco 49ers. He was signed to a $72 million deal this offseason after the team parted ways with Derek Carr.

Jimmy G is good at times, but injuries continue to slow him down. If it happens again, Brady just might be called on to see if he may come out to play.
