Maxx Crosby didn’t need long to express his feelings on the Las Vegas Raiders’ big coaching announcement on Friday.
As many expected, the Raiders hired interim head coach Antonio Pierce as their full-time HC on Friday. Pierce led the Raiders to a 5-4 finish after taking over for Josh McDaniels following a 3-5 start.
Crosby, who made it clear how badly he wanted Pierce to stay, had this two-word reaction to the news on X/Twitter:
The Raiders displayed immense improvement under Pierce, finishing with a top-10 scoring defense (ninth this year) for the first time since the 2002 season. Pierce was praised for his immense leadership skills and for restoring confidence in the Raiders after a sluggish start under McDaniels.
Two years ago, owner Mark Davis infamously parted ways with interim HC Rich Bisaccia after the latter led Vegas to 10 wins and a playoff appearance. Hiring McDaniels to replace Bisaccia turned out to be a colossal disaster on Davis’ end, so it’s no wonder that he didn’t want to lose another successful interim HC in Pierce.
