Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby was forced to run a lap on Tuesday after things got heated between him and Jimmy Garoppolo, according to The Athletic’s Tashan Reed.
Fights are breaking out across the NFL as teams prepare for a grueling 2023 season, with several reports and footage of scuffles surfacing as tempers flare up among teammates. This particular incident did not result in a physical altercation but tensions are said to have boiled over during an 11-on-11 drill this week.
Crosby was punished by being made to run a lap.
It appears things were always going to come to a head between the two as, last week, Crosby spoke about Jimmy G’s talkativeness during practice, noting that the new quarterback does not hold back when expressing himself. This was all complimentary as the QB was described as a “dog,” with the DE claiming to love his new teammate’s attitude.
But it seems like Crosby had enough of it and landed himself in some trouble as a result.
Players are urged to avoid contact with the QB while he’s wearing the red designated jersey, so punishment was automatic.

The rule has been put in place to lessen the risk of injury during practice. And, given the many reports of infighting this offseason, teams will be extra keen on protecting their players from each other.
