Matt Ryan went down in NFL history Saturday for an unfortunate reason.
The Colts led the Vikings 33–0 at halftime and 36–7 with 4:53 remaining in the third quarter. The game should’ve been over. After hearing non-stop jokes for the past six years about his team blowing a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI, the Colts quarterback was on the losing end of another improbable loss on Saturday.
After jumping out to a 33-0 lead, Ryan could only watch as the Vikings mounted the largest comeback in NFL history to stun Indianapolis 39-36 in overtime. The loss means that Ryan has now been the losing quarterback in four of the biggest blown leads in NFL history.
He couldn’t even escape the jokes from inside his own home.
In response to Lionel Messia and Argentina winning the World Cup, Ryan’s wife even took a subtle shot at her husband.
Ryan completed 19-of-33 passes on Saturday en route to one touchdown and zero interceptions for 182 yards. The Colts fell to 4-9-1 and got eliminated from playoff contention at the same time.
