On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen identified the Falcons as “a sleeper team” in the chase to land Watson.
The following day, Schefter relayed a report from Chris Mortensen that the Falcons made Ryan aware of their interest in Watson.
Matt Ryan’s sister-in-law did not like that report.
Ryan’s sister-in law, Maggie Marshall Ryan, said Mortensen “reported wrong.”
Ryan will turn 37 in May. Watson is 26. He led the Texans to the playoffs in 2018 and 2019. Before his NFL career, he led Clemson to consecutive College Football Playoff title games against Alabama.

Watson didn’t play last season because his trade demand as well as multiple sexual allegations against him. The league has a checkered history of dealing with allegations of sexual abuse and domestic violence, but they are expected to make a decision on a possible decision before Watson gets to take a snap with his new squad.
