There are 32 teams in the NFL, and over the course of league history, no quarterback has ever lost to all of them. That could very well change over the next few seasons.
After getting traded from the Atlanta Falcons to the Indianapolis Colts, Matt Ryan is on the verge of setting an NFL record that no QB wants to set, as he has lost to 29 of the league’s 32 teams already. And there’s a chance that by the end of the 2023 season, he could become the first quarterback in NFL history to lose to all 32 franchises.
In fact, If he just loses to 31 different teams, he would become the first QB in league history to do that — a mark which he could set in 2022. As of right now, there have been seven quarterbacks that have lost to 30 teams, but no QB has ever hit the 31-team mark.
Ryan has never lost to the Raiders, Jaguars, and Falcons. And he’ll be facing two of those three teams during the 2022 regular season.
The Colts will play at Jacksonville in Week 2, before hosting the Jags in Week 6. The Colts then face the Raiders in Week 10. They won’t be playing the Falcons this season, but Indy is slated to take on Ryan’s former team in 2023, when they match up against the NFC South division.
Drew Bledsoe, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Matt Hasselbeck, John Kitna, Carson Palmer and Alex Smith are the QB’s who have lost to 30 teams.
In his final season with the Falcons, Ryan had 3,968 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
