The Carolina Panthers lost their fifth consecutive game on Sunday, and did so while being blown out 32-6 at the hands of the Tampa Bay Bucs.
There is not much anybody can take from what Matt Rhule’s has done in year 2 as head coach since much of it can be blamed on injuries, most notably to star running back Christian McCaffrey.
After the loss on Sunday, Rhule tried to address the frustrations of the fan base by making a strange comparison to Jay-Z having to start his own agency to become an “overnight success” after seven years.
“I believe it’s 1,000-percent working, I just know no one can see it and I apologize. As I tell our team all the time, it took Jay-Z seven years. He had to start his own agency to become an overnight sensation. It takes time,” Rhule said.
Rhule won’t be given seven years to find success, so using Jay Z here was bizarre for that and many more reasons.

According to Jason La Canfora, Panthers owner David Tepper has shown no signs that he’s thinking about moving on from HC Matt Rhule after two seasons.
La Canfora added Rhule will enter the season on the hot seat, however, and a third straight losing campaign is unlikely to be tolerated.
So far in the NFL, Rhule is 10-20 in two seasons with the Panthers.
