NFL fans would have likely known Matt Nagy was the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs just by looking at them play in their season opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.
The Chiefs suffered a 21-20 loss to the Lions, starting their Super Bowl defense 0-1, and would have known that they were going into the game at a disadvantage as they were without the injured Travis Kelce, as well as Chris Jones, who is holding out for a bigger contract.
There were also a number of dropped catches, with Kadarius Toney one of the main culprits. However, some of the decision-making from Nagy was a bit odd, to say the least.
The OC opted to run a jet sweep from a bizarre formation in a key moment during the fourth quarter, taking the ball out of the hands of Patrick Mahomes on a 3rd and 1.
Detroit predictably got the stop on that third down to stop the drive and eventually closed the game out.

Nagy was the offensive coordinator at Kansas City in 2016 and 2017 before becoming the Chicago Bears head coach. He returned as a senior assistant and quarterbacks coach last year and has returned to his old role following the departure of Eric Bieniemy.
