Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has come under fire because of his team’s bad start to the 2023 season.
The Packers are 2-3 and riding a two-game losing streak coming off a beatdown at the hands of the Detroit Lions on “Thursday Night Football” followed by a terrible showing against the Las Vegas Raiders on “Monday Night Football.”
LaFleur’s offense is ranked 28th in the league in yards per game and Jordan Love, who seemed to be making strides, looks like he is regressing game by game.
LaFleur seems exposed without a future Hall of Famer guiding his offense and now a former player is calling him out.
“It’s outdated, and there is a better way to play offense right now,” Kurt Benkert said on X.
The Kurt Benkert, who was with Green Bay in 2021, would also reveal that a frosty relationship with coach Matt LaFleur contributed to the team’s decision to cut him prior to the 2022 season.

“So over a year of giving my point of view on how I see the game, offense, mixed in with the fact that I was doing a lot in the gaming and media space while being a player − it was clear that it wasn’t liked so much,” Benkert said on Tuesday.
“Regardless of how well I felt I was playing − it didn’t really matter.
At the end of the day, I was a dispensable practice squad player. My perspective in conversation, added in with my projects off the field weren’t a fit for the head coach.”
Benkert said that LaFleur “unloaded” on him every day until he eventually got cut from the team before the 2022 season.
“Transparently, that’s why I ended up leaving the Packers. It was one of the least enjoyable work situations I’ve ever been a part of and I did not want to play there anymore.”
The Green Bay Packers are currently 2-3 and in second place in the NFC North.
