On Friday, Marshawn Lynch made a guest appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher.
In a wide-ranging interview, the Oakland Raiders running back touched on a number of topics that included Colin Kaepernick and President Donald Trump.
Lynch revealed that he speaks to Kaepernick by text message, and while he feels sadness that he’s not in the league anymore, he also feels bad for players who are forced out for reasons “not as serious as his.”
“You see a lot of guys that’s been in the league that don’t get to come back from some other type of situations that’s not as serious as his,” Lynch said. “Got a couple guys who got suspended for marijuana, and they don’t get the opportunity to come back.”
Lynch was then asked about Trump referring to him and other NFL players as unpatriotic and needing to be fired for kneeling during the National Anthem, he had this to say:
“That motherfcker say a lot of sht,” Lynch said. “he called me unpatriotic but if you know me you know come to my neighborhood where I’m from you’ll see me take the shirt off my back and give it to someone, what would you call that?”
