Marshawn Lynch was lucky to be alive following his arrest last year.
Lynch was arrested during a traffic stop in downtown Las Vegas in August 2022 after he was found asleep in a car. Lynch is said to have smelled of alcohol and fell asleep “several times” during questioning.
He also had a tire on the 2020 Shelby GT500 missing.
On Wednesday, the 8 News Now Investigators obtained documents regarding Lynch’s arrest that revealed even more disturbing allegations.
Lynch had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit hours after the police found him sleeping in his car. His blood alcohol level was 0.18.
Despite him being found sleeping in his car, Nevada law states a person in the driver’s seat of a vehicle is “in physical control.”
The former NFL player’s lawyers are arguing that his situation doesn’t constitute a DUI.

David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, Lynch’s attorneys, also said there’s no evidence he drove the vehicle near the Las Vegas Strip.
“While [the officer] claims to have ‘observed [sic] a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle, his person, and his breath,’ no evidence proves that Mr. Lynch drank anything or actually operated the vehicle on the night of the encounter,” documents said, via 8 News Now.
“There was no evidence that the defendant consumed any alcohol after driving to the location he was found,” city attorneys said in court documents, adding officers’ observations led them to believe Lynch was impaired. “The defendant was behind the wheel of a damaged vehicle that had left pieces along the roadway and damaged the city’s roadway and curbs. The defendant had the keys to the vehicle that starts by pressing a button, in his pocket.”
The police claimed at the time that “Lynch was not cooperative or willing to comply with the Search Warrant and corrections officers from the City of Las Vegas had to use a restraint chair to force a blood draw.”
His arrest at the time came after the Seahawks announced that he had been hired as a special correspondent for the organization during the 2022-23 season. Amazon still hired Marshawn Lynch for its NFL coverage last year.
