The Carolina Panthers are off to a terrible start to the 2023 NFL season, making it a really bad look for first-overall pick Bryce Young.
The Panthers traded significant assets to move up to the first spot in the draft earlier this year and are yet to see a return on their investment at 0-4. To make a long story short, they’re sick of losing – as tired of losing as Josh Jacobs is this season, and even he’s won a game already.
Given the poor streak, the Panthers are now actively searching for a new wide receiver, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, and are thought be have cast a wide net. The likes of Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tee Higgins, Marquise Brown, Chase Claypool, and Van Jefferson have all been named as potential targets.
According to MLFootball, which cites an NFL front office source, the Panthers brass have made inquiries into the availability of Brown. They add that Carolina has shown “strong interest” in the Arizona Cardinals WR.
Brown, the 25th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, has made 21 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in four games for the Cards this season and, if said source is to be believed, has left quite the impression on the Panthers.
Whether or not they make a move for him is yet to be seen. But they know they can’t sit around doing nothing.
