A blockbuster trade proposal has the Green Bay Packers landing a former highly-touted first-round pick and wideout to help bolster the Jordan Love-led passing game.
Green Bay’s top wideout, Christian Watson, has yet to play this season because of a hamstring injury. Despite missing Week 2, running back Aaron Jones is actually the Packers’ leading receiver with 86 yards (and a touchdown) on only two receptions.
So yes, it would help Love aplenty if the Packers could add extra receiving help ahead of the trade deadline.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed the idea of the Packers trading for Arizona Cardinals wideout Marquise Brown, who’s in the final year of his rookie deal. The former 2019 first-round pick played his first three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before arriving in Arizona last year:
“The Packers could continue their relative youth movement at receiver but still add some talent to the room by making a move for Marquise Brown. The speedster is five years into his career, but he’s still only 26 years old.
The 2019 first-round pick is in the final year of his contract with the Cardinals, and they don’t have much reason to be in win-now mode in the desert. Jonathan Gannon just took over as head coach and Kyler Murray is still recovering from a torn ACL.
Getting Brown on a trial run for a draft pick to see how he might fit in with this receiving corps would be a worthwhile endeavor.”
Through Arizona’s first two games, Brown has nine receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. The 26-year-old missed five games last season but still finished with 67 catches for 709 yards and a trio of touchdowns.

Brown had his best year in 2021, recording 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
Watson and fellow sophomore Romeo Doubs give Love a nice duo of pass-catchers to work around with, but adding a super-speedy player like Brown could help this passing game reach another level.
If the Packers remain in playoff contention leading up to the deadline, they should definitely explore trading for Brown or another impact receiver.
