The Las Vegas Raiders have a lot of work to do if they want to improve on last year’s disappointing campaign. They’ve certainly done their part to revamp their roster this offseason, and the moves continue to pour in, even with the start of the 2023 season just one week away.
The Raiders’ latest notable move came after the league’s cutdown day, as the team signed New Orleans Saints cutdown day casualty Marquez Callaway to their practice squad.
It’s a very intriguing signing for the Raiders, who already have an impressive wide receiver room.
Callaway signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He became a big part of their offense one year later, starting 11 of their 17 games while posting 46 receptions for 698 yards and six touchdowns. He was largely phased out of the offense in 2021, however, and after signing with the Broncos this offseason, he was released earlier this week.
Vegas currently has Davante Adams leading a receiving corps that also includes Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Renfrow and 2023 third-round pick Tre Tucker. Things are pretty thin after that, though, so don’t be surprised if Callaway works his way onto the 53-man roster at some point this season.
