Over a week ago, Las Vegas Raiders team owner Mark Davis disavowed Jon Gruden’s comments made in emails that were revealed in multiple reports that ultimately caused him to step down from his head coaching job.
“Listen, the Raiders stand for diversity, inclusion and social justice. We always have and we always will. The emails that came out are not what we stand for. So Jon Gruden is no longer head coach of the Raiders,” Davis told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“There’s not much more I can say. All the talking heads are making up all sorts of stuff. That’s all it is. We don’t stand for it.”
Two weeks ago, The New York Times uncovered that Gruden used homophobic and misogynistic language in a series of emails he sent several years ago to former Washington general manager Bruce Allen and others around the league.
Asked on Wednesday whether the NFL should release a written report of the Washington Football Team workplace misconduct investigation, Davis was all for it.
“Probably. Yeah, I think so.”

Davis also voiced his frustration with the way the NFL handled Gruden’s emails, saying “It’s a timing issue.”
Davis revealed how Gruden is dealing with his exit.
“He’s hurt,” Davis said. “He’s really hurt. And I understand that. But he understands the ramifications of what he said.”
Meanwhile, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is completely satisfied with how the investigation turned out.
Via multiple reporters, Jones said he is “very satisfied” with the investigation.
“We got a complete narration and review of how the information was gathered [and] how it was resolved,” Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, using the team’s former name. “Dan and the Redskins are addressing any issues that were involved and had begun to address them even before the findings were totally in. We looked into how the information was obtained, the extent of the information, how it was presented and [were] totally satisfied.”
With the NFL already stating that none of the other emails contained anything like what they saw from Gruden, every owner and coach in the league can breathe a sigh of relief.
