NFL fans are teeing off on Mark Davis and the Las Vegas Raiders for terrible money mismanagement following the team’s firing of head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler.
An hour after midnight EST on Wednesday, the Raiders announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that they had fired both McDaniels and Ziegler. This game one night after the Raiders fell 26-14 to the Detroit Lions on Monday.
Investor and entrepreneur Joe Pompliano posted something interesting about Davis’ mismanagement on X that has gone viral.
With NFL head coaching contracts being fully guaranteed, Pompliano pointed out that the Raiders are paying tens of millions of dollars to McDaniels and Jon Gruden to not even coach the Silver and Black.
Gruden resigned from the Raiders in the midst of the 2021 season following his email scandal. Gruden’s deal had around $40 million in guaranteed money remaining.
Needless to say, fans had a field day ripping on Davis and the Raiders.

Davis surprised many when he decided not to retain interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, who led the Raiders to the postseason in 2021 following Gruden’s resignation. Davis thought that McDaniels would help take this franchise to another level, but he instead got a mere nine wins against 16 losses with the longtime New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator.
Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce was named the interim HC following McDaniels’ firing, with Champ Kelly taking over as the interim GM.
