Maria Taylor, an analyst, reporter, and host who joined ESPN in 2014, took to TikTok and revealed that she and her husband are expecting their first child together due in January.
The NBC sportscaster also shared behind-the-scenes footage from their announcement photoshoot. “I still can’t believe I get to say this…WE’RE pregnant!!!!” she exclaimed.
In 2021, Taylor left ESPN after contract talks broke down and a white colleague suggested that Taylor was promoted because she is Black. Her departure came weeks after The New York Times reported on tensions within the network over a white colleague’s recorded comments that suggested Taylor may have gotten a more prominent role because she’s Black.
Rachel Nichols was that reporter and she has also departed from the network.
Taylor was introduced to sports fans at ESPN from 2013-2021. In 2021, Taylor moved to NBC Sports where she later became a part of the pregame coverage for Sunday Night Football.
Taylor replaced Mike Tirico after he became one of the play-by-play commentators for Sunday Night Football.
