The Las Vegas Raiders are likely to sign a veteran cornerback ahead of training camp, with The Athletic reporting that the team could add three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro Marcus Peters to their roster.
Peters is a free agent after spending the last four seasons with the Baltimore Raiders and had a visit in Vegas around a month ago. Although he left without signing a deal, the parties remained in touch as the player was thought to be feeling his way around other teams to determine the best option for him.
Vic Tafur is reporting that the Raiders are now likely to sign the 30-year-old who grew up rooting for them as a kid in Oakland.
The Raiders are understood to have several other veteran quarterbacks on their list, however, Peters is likely to be the man.
Peters Should Expect To Start Immediately
The former first-round pick played 13 games for the Ravens in 2022, starting all of them. He had 47 tackles, two of them for loss, as well as a sack and an interception. He’s led the NFL in yards from interception returns in three of his seven active seasons (2015, 2017, 2019) and was the interceptions co-leader in 2015.
Should he join the Raiders, Peters is likely to start immediately given that he would be an upgrade on the team’s current CBs.
