The Jets have moved on from Sam Darnold, but it seems that one player was not thrilled with that news.
Safety Marcus Maye posted a facepalm emoji on Twitter on Monday after the Jets traded Darnold to the Carolina Panthers for three draft picks.
Maye and Darnold were teammates for three seasons.
With the removal of Darnold, it appears the Jets are likely going to take BYU’s Zach Wilson to be their next quarterback.
The 23-year-old Darnold struggled during the 2020 season, throwing for 2,208 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 12 games.
Maye, whose career began with Josh McCown as the starter in 2017, will now be on his third quarterback in five seasons. Not to mention, he’ll also be on his third head coach in Robert Saleh, who follows Todd Bowles and Adam Gase.
