Longtime NFL tight end Marcedes Lewis has found a team for the 2023 season and with that signin, he has made history.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Lewis is heading into his 18th NFL season and he has now broken a tie with fellow tight ends Jason Witten and Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for the most seasons ever played by a tight end.
Back in 2018, Lewis signed with the Green Bay Packers and would play an additional five seasons with Aaron Rodgers as his starting quarterback. He caught 57 passes for 582 yards and six touchdowns in those five years. He caught only six passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns last season.
Lewis was a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and played 12 seasons with the team, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2010.
Over the seventeen NFL seasons he has played, Lewis has appeared in 251 games, starting 221, and has 432 receptions for 5,084 yards and 39 touchdowns. It’s a testament to how productive he has been for tams to continue to want him aboard.
Lewis reunites with his former Packers teammates Robert Tonyan — who signed with Chicago in free agency — guard Lucas Patrick and wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.
