The Manningcast curse is a real thing.
Players appearing on Peyton and Eli Manning’s stream on Monday Night Football have not fared very well the following week…
Coming into this weekend, the previous five active players who have appeared on ESPN’s ManningCast have gone on to lose the following weekend. That list includes the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and the Seahawks’ Russell Wilson, who both appeared in week one and went on to lose in week two. They were followed by the Bucs’ Rob Gronkowski in week 2, the Rams’ Matthew Stafford in week 3, and Tom Brady in week seven.
As for the latest victim of the ManningCast curse, that would be Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who appeared on the broadcast last Monday, then went on to suffer an unimaginable loss to the terrible Jacksonville Jaguars in week 9.
The Bills went into Sunday’s game as 14-point favorites to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that failed to score a single touchdown all game long, losing by a score of 9-6. Allen had a terrible afternoon, throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble in one of his worst performances in years.
If this trend continues, I wouldn’t expect many players to be jumping at the opportunity to appear on Eli and Peyton’s show down the road.
