Dez Bryant has had a change of heart, somewhat.
Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant joined the many masses this week that blasted Malika Andrews for waiting so long to finally say something about Josh Giddey’s situation as opposed to other situations involving black athletes.
The biggest situation is when Malika was highly critical of Alabama star Brandon Miller on the night of the NBA Draft. Miller, who is Black, was the owner of a gun allegedly used by one of his teammates in a fatal shooting in Tuscaloosa.
“I advise you not to make this a black or white thing,” Bryant wrote to Andrews on social media regarding what appears to be her double standard when it comes to athletes in trouble. “Your parents really raised you wrong and just because you went to a private school don’t make you better.”
On Wednesday night, however, Bryant issued a public apology to Andrews while stating he won’t speak on the topic again unless he is invited on a show.
“I ain’t talking about the situation no more unless @stephenasmith @malika_andrews wanna talk on air,” Bryant wrote. “But I do wanna apologize for coming so aggressive at @malika_andrews But I do wonder if she even realizes how certain things look?
“Sports & media is a big deal to the culture I’ve battled my entire sports career pleading to the world we are more than the game we play. We just need better help. Millions of dollars to do a job is not worth more than a humans mental especially if you got a family who loves you I’ve experienced unfairness and saw white athletes get a slap on the wrist for doing shit I know that will get you kicked off a team in a heart beat. I really hate to make it seem like a black-and-white thing but the unfairness is real. I know for me I got tired of busting my ass going the extra mile just to still get disrespected. I’m just fed up looking at the cycle. I don’t even like jumping on shows or podcast but I will on this topic The elephant been in the room but folks scared to speak on it. I ain’t looking for brownie points. I ain’t looking to make somebody look bad. The real ones know how I move. I am the voice of the people who are afraid to speak. I care to talk about perspective.”

Andrews has not responded to this post or his original comments. In fact, she usually never responds to any backlash she receives.
In the meantime, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey has been accused of having a relationship with a minor, and the Newport Beach (CA) police department has announced that they are investigating.
The NBA and the Thunder are still looking into the situation. Giddey and Thunder head coach Mark Daigenault have declined to comment on the matter.
