Josh Allen was confirmed as the Madden 24 cover athlete this week, becoming the first Buffalo Bills player to have his image grace the cover of the iconic football video game.
The quarterback referred to the announcement as “a childhood dream come true” amid all the criticism EA Sports has gotten for the decision.
The publishers revealed two versions of the game cover on Wednesday, with a standard edition set to go for $69.99 featuring a photo of the QB looking downward with his hands on his shoulder pads while the Deluxe Edition ($99.99) has a cover photo of him celebrating with fans.
If you look closely at the Deluxe Edition photo, you’ll notice an error. One of the bars on his facemask is cut off.
Allen doesn’t usually wear a facemask with three horizontal bars, which explains why it’s erased in the photo, albeit not fully. The quarterback typically goes for top and bottom horizontal bars, so that EA chose a photo they needed to edit is a bit bizarre.
It appears they are aware of the error as the promotional social media bits that followed corrected the mistake.

Hopefully, they haven’t printed any of the bad ones yet.
Meanwhile, Bills fans will be hoping that’s as far as the “Madden Curse” goes.
