New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is a virtual lock to play elsewhere in 2024.
The third-year quarterback is enduring a miserable individual campaign on a lousy Patriots team. The former Alabama star is 2-8 with 2,031 passing yards and 10 touchdowns with as many interceptions.
Though Patriots head coach Bill Belichick hasn’t made a final decision yet, there is speculation that Jones will be demoted to second or third-stringer for the team’s Week 11 game against the New York Giants (the Pats are on bye this week).
Jason of Ounpraseuth NESN proposed five interesting landing spots for the 2021 first-round pick in 2024: The San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.
Among these five teams, the Giants and Rams make the most sense for Jones.
The 49ers won’t be eyeing a quarterback change as long as they continue to win with second-year signal-caller Brock Purdy. Russell Wilson has displayed remarkable improvement under Sean Payton and has bought himself another year (or more) as Denver’s starter.

The Browns, whether they like it or not, are stuck with Deshaun Watson and that awful $230 million fully guaranteed contract. They’re not going to pay Watson all that money to sit on the bench next year.
But the Rams may feel inclined to move on from Matthew Stafford amid another tough injury-riddled season, and Jones could easily flourish under offensive guru Sean McVay. The Giants can’t realistically get out of Daniel Jones’ contract until 2025, but they could trade for the other Jones and make him the starter right away.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll did wonders with Josh Allen, and the longtime Bill Belichick assistant might be intrigued by the idea of fixing Jones.
