It was Friday afternoon on C-SPAN when some senators began discussing, not the ongoing government shutdown, but the non-call pass interference in the NFC Championship game that caused the Saints to lose in overtime.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) unloaded on what he deemed “the most blatant and consequential blown call in NFL history.”
“The State of Louisiana is outraged because of what happened in the Superdome last Sunday,” Cassidy said during his 5-minute presentation.

Cassidy even noted that superstars like LeBron James and JJ Watt tweeted about the “travesty.”
He ended his rant by essentially calling for NFL officials to face the Senate to answer questions about the game and the way the NFL runs its business.
