Taylor Heinicke is headed to another team.
The Los Angeles Chargers have acquired the quarterback from the Atlanta Falcons, per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
The Falcons received a conditional sixth-round pick in return, per Russini.
Taylor Heinicke is in line for a better spot on the Chargers. He was previously listed third on the Falcons’ depth chart behind veteran starter Kirk Cousins and 2024 first-rounder Michael Penix Jr.
Now, he is expected to compete with Easton Stick to back up Justin Herbert in Los Angeles.

The Atlanta Falcons have completely transformed their quarterback room in less than a year. They have swapped out Desmond Ridder, Taylor Heinicke, and Logan Woodside for Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix.
Taylor Heinicke is coming off a preseason where he played the majority of the team’s snaps under center.
Apparently, he did enough to get the Chargers to call and want him on their squad.
Heinicke originally signed a two-year deal with the Falcons for $14 million in March 2023.
Because of Ridder’s bad play, Heinicke got some major playing time: he made four starts and appeared in five games.
Throughout those five games, Heinicke completed 74 of his 136 passes for 890 passing yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions, according to ESPN.
Taylor Heinicke Has Been A Journeyman QB Since Being Undrafted
Taylor Heinicke joined the league as an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion in 2017.
He only had ten throwing yards as a member of the Houston Texans.
He then took his talents to the Carolina Panthers for one year, with little run, before he headed off to the Commanders for three seasons.
Last year, Taylor Heinicke was with the Falcons, and now he will be heading for his fifth team.
