There’s a concerning injury update on Los Angeles Chargers superstar wide receiver Keenan Allen ahead of Sunday’s Week 13 showdown against the New England Patriots.
On their X/Twitter page, the Chargers updated their injury report. As you can see below, Allen missed practice for the second straight day with a quadricep injury. It’s not yet clear if he will play on Sunday.
After missing seven games last season due to injury, the five-time Pro Bowl wideout has regained his superstar-like form. Allen leads the NFL in receptions (97) and has 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns. This season marks Allen’s sixth career 1,000-yard campaign.
The Chargers come into New England with a 4-7 record. They’ll most certainly have to win out to have any hope of qualifying for the postseason, while the Patriots (2-9) have already clinched a second straight losing campaign.
Quarterback Justin Herbert is 0-2 in his career against Bill Belichick’s Patriots, with both losses coming at home in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The Chargers haven’t beaten the Patriots since 2008.
There is growing speculation that the Chargers will fire head coach Brandon Staley if they lose on Sunday. Entering Sunday, the 40-year-old Staley has a mediocre 23-22-0 record as the Bolts’ head coach.

Obviously, a win for the Chargers will be that much more manageable if they have Allen in the lineup for Sunday’s contest.
