The Los Angeles Chargers hosting the Miami Dolphins was one of the more anticipated matchups on the week 1 schedule as it featured two high powered offenses with the game having the highest over/under point total of the week.
The game definitely did not disappoint as it was a back-and-forth affair with seven lead changes with the Dolphins narrowly hanging on for the 36-34 victory in the highest scoring game of week one. Even with all of the action on the field, it was something that was happening in the stands that had people all over social media talking.
To promote a new movie called “The Creator”, the marketing people thought it would be a good marketing ploy to place human-looking robots in the crowd at SoFi Stadium decked out in Chargers gear. Needless to say, it probably had many of the human fans a bit creeped out.
The Chargers have never really had a strong fan base as fans in California have more successful football franchises to root for including the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams.
Chargers games are routinely filled with fans from the visiting club. So after seeing the robot fans in the stands, people could not help themselves while taking shots at the Chargers on social media.
