It’s been four months since NFL fans saw Antonio Brown storm off the field as a member of the Tampa Bay Bucs, and we won’t be seeing him in 2022 either.
Brown, who said earlier this month he wanted to retire a Steeler, delivered the news himself during an appearance at a Fan Controlled Football league game on Saturday. The free-agent receiver said he won’t be playing ball in 2022.
“Obviously, we live the game but you can’t play forever,” he said. “I think I’m a great player that’s done everything in the game. ”
He was then asked whether he would be suiting up in 2022.
“Nah, don’t play yourself lookin’ to me to play.”
The 33-year-old did not seem to be on the radar of any of the 32 NFL teams.

During his nine seasons in Pittsburgh, he caught 837 passes for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns in 130 games. He recorded seven seasons of more than 1,000 receiving yards and was a seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro.
His behavior got him traded to the then-Oakland Raiders ahead of the 2019 season. However, his behavior only got worse and he never actually suited up for a game with the team. He requested a trade from the Raiders after the franchise voided the guarantees in his contract after fining him because of an altercation with general manager Mike Mayock.
He was released and signed by the New England Patriots. He played one game before his off-the-field issues caused him to get cut.
After serving an eight-game suspension at the beginning of the 2020 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy because of an incident in January 2020 in which he attacked the driver of a moving company truck, he signed with the Buccaneers, appearing in eight regular-season games for the franchise and catching 45 passes for 483 yards and four touchdowns.
Brown returned to Tampa Bay for the 2021 season and appeared in just seven games before being released following an outburst in which he ran off the field during a Week 17 win over the New York Jets.
