After the Tampa Bay Bucs defeated the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LV, the team had a boat parade that quickly became memorable for two things that Tom Brady did.
The first came when he decided to throw the Lombardi Trophy between boats. The other being Brady needing help to walk because he had way to much too drink.
Not everybody enjoyed Brady throwing that trophy, however, as Lorraine Grohs said Brady’s throw was an insult to her family’s legacy.
Grohs is the daughter of Greg Grohs, the master silversmith at Tiffany and Company from 1967 to 1994, who crafted the very first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
“It just upset me that this trophy was disgraced and disrespected by being thrown as if it was a real football,” Grohs said, via Leslie DelasBour of FOX 4 Southwest Florida. “I have a big history of this trophy being made by my father and it’s such an honor and I know all the craftsmen that made it when my dad was there also at Tiffany’s and it takes a lot of hard work.”
“I personally would like an apology, not just to me and my family and the other silversmiths but to the fans, all the football fans and the other team’s players,” Grohs said.
Grohs claims she has had sleepless nights because of the incident.
“I’ve seen this trophy being made at the factory at Tiffany’s and it’s a beautiful trophy. My father had to chisel the seams, he had to chisel the seams by hand. There is a newspaper article that shows him working on that trophy. The ball is hand-formed and the base is as well,” Grohs explained.

Grohs is not much of a football fan, but she does watch the Super Bowl for one reason only.
“I only watch the game to watch the trophy come out. I like to see all the owners and the football players just hold it up with such pride and hold it up and show everybody and I get goosebumps…. like right now I’m getting goosebumps,” said Grohs.
We’ll have to wait and see if Brady delivers that apology.
