Los Angeles Rams All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is one of the top names to follow on the NFL trade market in the coming weeks.
Earlier this week, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Rams are expected to trade the 28-year-old “in coming weeks.” Pelissero noted that the Rams, coming off a disappointing 5-12 season, are looking to clear cap space.
Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter (h/t Rob Goldberg of Bleacher Report), that the Detroit Lions have come up often in the Ramsey trade discussions. Fowler also mentioned the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential landing spot for the Super Bowl 56 champion:
“Now, Jalen Ramsey. This could be a hot market on the trade front. The Rams are talking calls here, so I’ve talked to some teams this weekend to see what’s going on here and the Detroit Lions come up fairly often. It’s just a reasonable potential fit because Brad Holmes, the GM there, was with the Rams for a long time, he knows Ramsey’s game, they need cornerback help.
They’ve been sort of a build through the draft team, but could be one to watch. Las Vegas Raiders need help there, so Ramsey, with his skillset, only 28 years old, even though he’s due $17 million should have some suitors.”
If the Lions were to acquire Ramsey, this wouldn’t be the only recent blockbuster deal involving them and the Rams. Two years ago, the Rams landed quarterback Matthew Stafford in a blockbuster deal, with Jared Goff and 2022 and 2023 first-rounders going to Detroit as part of the return.
Ramsey has been arguably the NFL’s best cornerback since his 2017 sophomore season. The six-time Pro Bowler has 19 career interceptions, 92 pass defenses and six forced fumbles.

The Florida State product played an instrumental role in helping the Rams win Super Bowl 56 in the 2021 season. But the Rams appear ready for a retooling phase of some sort following a colossal failure of a 2022 season, and that will likely mean moving on from Ramsey.
