The Detroit Lions have provided a major injury update on superstar rookie tight end Sam LaPorta ahead of Sunday’s Divisional Round clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Lions released their latest injury report for the Divisional Round on Friday, and LaPorta has been listed as questionable as he continues to deal with a knee injury. LaPorta was active for last Sunday’s Wild Card Round win over the Los Angeles Rams, so it feels likely that he’ll play this weekend.
LaPorta had three receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown in last Sunday’s 24-23 win, marking Detroit’s first playoff victory in 32 years. Up next, the Lions will try to reach their first NFC Championship Game since the 1991 season.
The 23-year-old LaPorta was one of football’s most productive rookies in the regular season, finishing with 86 receptions for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 10 receiving TDs were tied with Minnesota Vikings wideout Jordan Addison for most among rookies this year.
Kickoff for the Bucs-Lions game at Ford Field is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST. The winner will face the victory of Saturday’s tilt between the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.
