Dan Campbell is fully aware that people think he’s a meathead or just flat-out dumb.
The Detroit Lions head coach believes it is an advantage if opponents think he is dumb, per Pro Football Talk.
“It doesn’t bother me,” Campbell said. “If you’re an opponent, the dumber you think I am, the better off we are.”
Campbell is clearly hoping his opponents keep underestimating him.
“I’m still being me, excited as ever,” he said. “But I don’t always feel like I’m going to rip my shirt off and run around. Once you’re in it a year, you have a feel for what it is. You can keep your emotions in check.”
During his first year, Campbell went 3-13-1, so he would love nothing more than to improve in his second year.
As a tight end in the league, Campbell played from 1999-2009 for the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints.
