For sports fans, there is almost nothing worse than thinking you had the game won for a few seconds…only to have defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.
Detroit Lions fans everywhere experienced that moment during Saturday’s road game against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Jared Goff threw a go-ahead two-point conversion try to offensive tackle Taylor Decker with 23 seconds left, seemingly clinching Detroit its 12th victory of the year.
But of course, Decker was flagged for illegal touching, as the officials stated he didn’t report as eligible. In the video below, it’s hard to watch without feeling sorry for the many rowdy Lions fans who thought their team had just completed an upset in Dallas:
The Lions’ final two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, with Goff’s pass attempt to James Mitchell following incomplete. The Lions, now 11-5, will finish as the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the NFC.
