Just when you thought the Detroit Lions’ season couldn’t get any worse…
The 0-9-1 Lions came into today’s Thanksgiving Day game looking for their first win of the season, as well as the first win of Dan Campbell’s head coaching career. And they got off to a good start by scoring a touchdown on their opening drive. But the good times didn’t last.
Midway through the second quarter, Lions star running back D’Andre Swift went down with a shoulder injury after being tackled along the sidelines by Bears linebacker Roquan Smith.
Smith made contact with Swift inbounds, but as their momentum took both players out of bounds, Smith then landed with all of his body weight on the second-year back, causing him to injure his shoulder.
Swift was able to jog to the sidelines under his own power, but he was eventually taken to the locker room for further evaluation. He’s currently questionable to return, but it would be a surprise if we saw him on the field again today.
