Football fans are rightfully ripping on Detroit Lions star C.J. Gardner-Johnson for celebrating like the NFC Championship Game was over…in the first half.
With 5:54 remaining in the first half, cameras caught Gardner-Johnson “waving” goodbye to the San Francisco 49ers with his team up 13 points. Clearly, Gardner-Johnson had felt as though the game was over.
Well, somebody might want to send this to the Old Takes Exposed X/Twitter account. The 49ers outscored Detroit 27-7 in the second half, erasing a 17-point deficit to win their first FC Championship in four years.
And fans did not let Gardner-Johnson forget about this way-too-early celebration.
