A blockbuster trade proposal has the Arizona Cardinals dealing superstar wideout DeAndre Hopkin to an up-and-coming NFC club.
Hopkins, who’s entering the final year of his contract, has been the subject of trade rumors since the end of the Cardinals’ 2022 season. But we’re nearly a month removed from the draft, and the soon-to-be 31-year-old remains a member of the Cardinals.
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports listed several big-named trade candidates with the NFL Draft now over. Benjamin had Hopkins on the list of trade candidates and mentioned the Lions as a possible landing spot.
The Lions went 9-8 last season, marking their first winning season since 2017. With Aaron Rodgers now out of the division, the NFC North is up for grabs and wide open.
2022 first-round pick Jameson Williams was suspended for the first six games of the season for gambling, so there is a void at wide receiver. Third-year wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and veteran Marvin Jones Jr. are the lead WRs on Detroit’s roster.
But adding Hopkins to an offense consisting of Williams, St. Brown, Jones Jr. and the dynamic running back duo of David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs would go a long way in helping Detroit’s chances of winning the NFC North.
