The Denver Broncos are making a huge move to the roster just one day before they are set to hit the field on Thursday Night Football.
Denver released wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the active roster, the team announced Wednesday.
Humphrey has seen just five targets through five games in 2023, and he’s now set to become a free agent after Denver decided to part ways with him Wednesday.
This move does not mean the wideout is gone for good.
The Broncos already created an open spot for Humphrey on their practice squad when they released wide receiver Michael Bandy on Tuesday. Now, so long as no other teams sign him, Denver can re-sign Humphrey to the practice squad.
Humphrey scored a touchdown in Week 1’s loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, but he’s caught four of just five targets for 26 yards this season.

The 6-foot-4 wideout spent his first three years with the New Orleans Saints after coming out of Texas in 2018. That is where he saw his most action when collecting 249 yards and two scores in 10 games during the 2021 campaign.
The Denver Broncos are 1-4 and in dead last in the AFC West.
