Le’Veon Bell has had an eventful first couple days during his initial training camp with his new squad.
After a drama-filled offseason, the New York Jets running back has found himself being pulled from the practice field by the National Football League twice within 24 hours to take drug tests.
Via Dennis Young of the New York Daily News:
“For the second straight day, Le’Veon Bell spent a portion of practice with the NFL’s drug testers.
Bell participated in the early portion of Jets practice Saturday and went through the first-team period before disappearing for the rest of practice. He returned at the end to sign autographs for the fans.
Coach Adam Gase said Bell was undergoing a drug test. Bell missed some of Friday’s practice for the same reason.”
Coach Adam Gase pretty much expected something to happen after Bell missed Jets OTA’s.
“Since he wasn’t here in the spring, they have to do everything now,” Gase said. “You guys don’t see it all the time. You know, in the season sometimes we can be out at practice where a guy gets pulled off. It happens a lot in OTAs, you know, guys will come out late because they’ve got to do that.”

Given his history, it’s not a real shock as to why the league wants to make sure he is clean. Bell was suspended two games in 2014 after he was charged with marijuana possession and was suspended four games for missing a test in 2016.
