After Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the New Orleans Saints in a playoff game in 2021, the 43-year-old QB shared a friendly moment with his opponent Drew Brees and his family.
In footage of the post-game interaction, Brady throws a playful pass to Brees’ boys in the end zone.
It was a wonderful moment, but we had no clue how Tom Brady truly felt until LeSean mcCoy told the world this week. McCoy recounted on the I Am Athlete podcast how Brady took special pleasure in the win.
“Another one right? This is a funny one,” McCoy said about Brady and Brees. “We were playing the Saints, don’t kill my, Tom. This is a funny one, right? So they beat us twice that year. Beat the s*** out of us. They sweep us and then we meet in the playoffs. Everyone knows Drew Brees is retiring cause he wasn’t the same, arm wasn’t the same. We beat ’em.”
“So Tom is like, ‘Hey great to see you,’ all this great s–t, right? We beat ’em! [After the game] Tom is out there throwing with [Brees’)]kids. Him and his son, they’re throwing to Brees’ son, right? Kissing babies. We get back to the locker room, Tom goes, ‘I got his ass! Let’s go! Sit his ass down!’ We were all like, ‘Ohhhh!'”

The Buccaneers lost their two regular-season contests with the Saints prior to the postseason, so Brady and the team really wanted to get them badly.
Two months after that game, Drew Brees officially announced his retirement after 20 NFL seasons, including 15 seasons with the Saints. A 13-time Pro Bowler, the Super Bowl 44 MVP finished his career as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards and completed passes, but Brady moved into the top spot in both categories this season.
