The New York Giants are trading veteran defensive lineman Leonard Williams to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for multiple draft picks.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who cites sources, the Seahawks are sending a second-round 2024 pick and a fifth-round 2025 pick to the Giants to facilitate the move.
Williams, who was the fifth-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and was a Pro Bowler in 2016 with the Jets, was traded to the Giants in 2019. He is one of the best players in his position, but the G-Men have opted to let him go on the back of their 13-10 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
The Giants have only won two games so far this season and are looking to retool as their playoff hopes have all but faded. They’ve secured some major draft capital in this deal and can continue their rebuild with younger talent who will not require huge contracts.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, are 5-2 and will look to make another postseason run with one of the best DLs in the league now on their roster.
