Free agent running back Leonard Fournette is getting another long-awaited meeting with another NFL team.
Fournette informed NFL insider Jordan Schultz of theScore that he’ll visit with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night. Schultz added “there’s a good chance” that the former Jacksonville Jaguar and Tampa Bay Buccaneer will sign with the Bills “if all goes well.”
Bills’ running back Damien Harris suffered a neck injury against the New York Giants in Sunday night’s game and had to be taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Fortunately, Harris avoided a serious injury and was released from hospital.
But with Harris potentially missing time, it doesn’t hurt the Bills to add a veteran RB like Fournette to complement Latavius Murray and James Cook. The No. 4 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft has two 1,000-yard rushing seasons on his belt and helped the Bucs to a Super Bowl 55 championship in the 2020 season.
Fournette was released by the cap-strapped Bucs this past offseason following a down year in which he averaged just 3.5 yards per carry, finishing with 668 yards and three touchdowns. That said, he was reliable as a pass-catcher with 73 receptions for 523 yards and three touchdowns.
The LSU product has exceeded 1,000 yards of offense in four of his six seasons. Renowned for his clutch postseason performances, “Playoff Lenny” has 10 touchdowns in nine playoff games.
