The 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the franchise’s 23rd season in the National Football League and the first under head coach Doug Marrone. That team went 10-6 and finished in 1st place in the AFC South.
The team shocked the football world by going on a run that saw them defeat the Buffalo Bills in the Wild card round, defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Divisional round, and then almost defeat the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
The team has went 5-11 and 6-10 and the two years since, finishing in last place in the AFC South in both years. A brutal number of players from that AFC title game are already gone, with a few more soon to follow. In December 2019, Jaguars owner Shad Khan fired executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin just days after the NFLPA warned players of potentially signing with the franchise because of excessive fines and player grievances.
Running back Leonard Fournette is one of the few standouts from that ’17 team still on the roster.
He alluded to Coughlin ruining that team in a viral Tweet on Wednesday.

While Fournette has been solid since being in the NFL, it should also be noted that Coughlin chose him 4th overall in his 4th draft over the likes of QB Deshaun Watson.
Watson has become a franchise quarterback for the division-rival Houston Texans.
